VIE AmLeague, Fall 1998 started near the same time as Omega league, but the season was cut short due to the VIE server shutdown.

[vs Symphony][vs Dissadent+][vs Heaven][vs Ster][vs The Alliance][vs Sensation][vs Forsaken][Season Totals]

Match 7 BALLISTICS vs. Symphony, Sunday, December 6, 1998. Score: BALLISTICS 7, Symphony 10. Close and great match. AgentSteel lead the starting surge with 2 quick kills and helped bring us to a 4-0 lead. But it started to fall apart and Symphony got the next 4 kills to bring it to a 4-4 tie. Mac then lagged out and Symphony capitalized on the quick powerplay to take the lead 6-5 and held it for the remainder of the match. Problems protecting the lead all season long...something that needs to be worked on heavily. Kep

  • CAVITATION 2-1
  • AgentSteel 2-1
  • MAC MAN 1-1
  • USS Stardestroyer 1-2
  • Gunstar 1-2
  • Bortas 0-1
  • FUZION 0-2

Match 6 BALLISTICS vs. Dissidents+, Sunday, November 29, 1998. Score: BALLISTICS 2, Dissidents+ 12. Ack! We dropped out of sole possession of 1st place in the pyramid with this loss. We did not play as a team at all but more like scattered ants. This allowed Dissidents to swarm any of our loners for easy kills. Always sucks to learn the hard way. Kep

  • CAVITATION 1-3
  • drevok 1-3
  • FUZION 0-1
  • Gunstar 0-2
  • PIMP-25 0-3

Match 5 BALLISTICS vs. Heaven, Saturday, November 7, 1998. Score: BALLISTICS 12, Heaven 9, match length 51 mins. YES first place at last :) This was an incredible match, well fought by both sides. I find it hard to fault our boys, since Heaven is a very good team of nice guys. I will leave that to Kepi :) Our tactic only offered a few opportunities to work, and work it did, with 4 kills coming from Cav's excellent dodging skills. Here is the log, thanks Kepi for the log. Bort

  • CAVITATION 6-2
  • Pimp 25 4-2
  • Ace High 2-2
  • Vandal 0-1
  • Drevok 0-2

Match 4 BALLISTICS vs. Ster, Saturday, October 24, 1998. Score: BALLISTICS 12, Ster 2, match length 37 mins. Well fought match, our worst aspect was getting our two losses with a 4 on 1 powerplay, can you say overfire? We did a lot of subbing, trying to give everyone a chance to play. This was Guns and Cad's first chance at a match, their combined slot went 4-1, excellent work buds. Kepi, Death Threat and I subbed in for the last few minutes, but all we did was pick our noses apparently :) Bort

Heh, you'd probably guessed by now that Bort does the positive critiqueswhile I do the negative ones (someone's gotta be the meanie). Well our boys played an excellent match no doubt...but not a perfect match. Leading 11-0, I would say 95% of the regular turnouts should've been 12-0...yet we got careless and ended up 12-2. Our last 3 games points out our ineffective powerplays which we need to work on heavily. Nevertheless, a great show by the boys. With this win, we climb another step up the pyramid to the Aquarius division with only 2 other squads: The Alliance and Heaven. Kep

  • CAVITATION 7-0
  • Gunstar 3-1
  • Caddy 1-0
  • Drevok 1-0
  • VANDAL 0-1

Match 3 BALLISTICS vs. The Alliance, Sunday, October 18, 1998. Score: BALLISTICS 9, The Alliance 12, Match Length 57 mins. Not much to say...you can visualize the ending. We were up 9-8 WITH A 3 ON 1 POWER PLAY! And yet we get stuck with the 9 points. Cockiness, greediness, or bad use of the power play?...take your pick...I'm sure you won't be wrong. Kep
On a side note, I think we witnessed that day one of the rare use of a cheat program in league (this at a time when fpe, twister and dcap were becoming popular), with lag limits like they are in league, I find it difficult to explain getting with several bombs in the same moment.

  • PIMP-25 4-3
  • Cavitation 3-3
  • Vandal 1-2
  • Kepi13 1-3
  • Bortas 0-1

Match 2 BALLISTICS vs. Sensation, Sunday, October 11 1998. Score: BALLISTICS 11, Senstation 6, Match Length 19 mins. With this win, we officially move into the Pisces Division of the AM Pyramid along with only 1 other squad (The Alliance) and our AML record will be resetted to 0-0. What a way to start our VIE debut eh? Beating the #9th ranked team the first week, then the #25th ranked team (according to Evil Illusion's Top 25 AM Rankings). We cannot challenge anyone outside our division so it looks like The Alliance will be our next match.
Wahoo!!! My first VIE match and I get MVP :) Pimp got killed cheesy for the first loss of the game, he imediatly subbed out for Gunstar, who came and rained bullets on the whole arena, before dying, and got subbed by Fuzion, who lagged out three times and got a loss chalked up to our team :( Kepi replaced him and got the last kill of the game. For some reason we didn't play out to 12 kills, and I have no idea why, the log shows only 11 kills for our team, four for their team, one lagout death, and one teamkill... doh! My highlight of the match was suiciding into laww for my second death, but to eliminate him from the match. This match was a ton of fun because everyone that came got to play, except for Caddy and Blockhead, sorry dudes :(. Also, here is the session.log.Bortas

We were up 8-3 towards the half mark of the match. This score should've escalated to 12-3 with 4 BALLISTICS in and only 2 of Sensation's. Getting over-confident on a power play will get you killed all the time. Vandal drained most his energy trying to eliminate the remaining 2 and Drevok came in to help with a bomb that sent Vandal's ship into 13 million pieces. Two minutes later, still with the 4 on 2 power play, Bortas decided to take one for the team and ran a suicide path which took out one of Sensations guys leaving us with a 4 on 1 power play, the negative end however, a suicide play IS a suicide play so that adds another kill for Sensation. After chasing the last Sensation player for 5 minutes, Drevok got impatient and was killed even though we had a 4 on 1 going. We managed to finish up the sloppy ending but rather than a 12-3 score, we ended up with an 11-6 win. Whats the moral of this critique? NEVER fire below 1000 when you have a power play going =) Kepi

  • Bortas 6-2 (Hehe, did I mention I had anti-warp the entire time, and was stealthed more than half? :P )
  • Drevok 2-1
  • VANDAL 2-1 (teamloss)
  • Kepi 1-0
  • Pimp 0-1
  • Gunstar 0-1
  • Fuzion 0-1 (lagout death)

Match 1 BALLISTICS vs. Forsaken, Sunday, October 4 1998. Score: BALLISTICS 12, Forsaken 3, Match Length, 14mins. What a great opening for our first game in VIE AmLeague, beating a respected team soundly, and we had ten buddies fighting and supporting our friends, thanks for showing guys. Pimp and Mac both finished the game on their first ship, with no toys left :) Pimp snagged MVP, with six beautiful vulches :) Running stealth most of the match, draining his energy, to toss bombs up the noses of the enemies everyone else was chasing, well done dude. I missed getting the time for this match, and the log file is wrong, but according to AmLeague page it was 14 minutes in length. I did get the session.log of this match. We broke 3 records with this match :) Bortas

  • PIMP-25 6-0
  • Mac Man 3-0
  • Death_Threat 2-2
  • Kepi13 1-1
